When an older Framingham resident living alone decided to relocate to a senior community in Minnesota to be closer to his family, his move involved much more than packing boxes. He needed to prepare his home for sale, coordinate a cross-country move, and determine what should be donated, recycled, discarded, or brought with him.

With so many details to manage, he and his family turned to Caring Transitions of Westford & Marlborough for help. His sister, who lives in Colorado, was familiar with Caring Transitions after their parents had used the company to help with a move. Over the course of two weeks, the Caring Transitions of Westford & Marlborough team coordinated the many details of the transition. This included planning the layout of his new home, coordinating with his Minnesota senior community, hiring and working with interstate movers, packing his belongings, and assisting with loading.

At the same time, the team worked through the Framingham home, sorting belongings for the move, donations, recycling, and disposal. Donations were coordinated with multiple charities, while e-waste, hazardous materials, and regular household items were handled appropriately.

The goal was to clear and prepare the home for sale while allowing the client to focus on settling into his new home.

After the client had moved to Minnesota and the team was wrapping up the project, they discovered additional photographs and other sentimental items he wanted to keep. The team carefully packed the items and arranged to ship them to him through Framingham Shipping, ensuring these meaningful belongings could join him in his new home.

The team also returned internet equipment on the client's behalf, taking care of yet another task that could easily have become one more thing for the family to manage from across the country.

In just two weeks, the home was packed and cleared, donations and other items were handled, and the client's belongings were on their way to Minnesota. The move was completed on schedule and without incident, allowing him to begin his next chapter in a senior community near his brother.
